HOW IT’S MADE

No molds. No shortcuts. No two alike.

Hand-Built From Slab

Every mug, bowl, and ornament starts as a flat slab of clay, rolled out and assembled by hand. No wheel-throwing. No molds. Just clay and intention.

Hand-Carved Detail

Breed-specific faces, paw prints, and custom markings are carved directly into the wet clay. Each carving is freehand — which is why each one has a personality of its own.

Glazed in Full Color

Alexis layers glazes to create depth, drips, and color stories that are impossible to replicate exactly — including by accident.

Food Safe. Ready to Love.

Every piece is fired to cone 6, fully food safe, microwave and dishwasher safe. Made to be used daily — not just admired on a shelf. (Though we support that too.)

Breed, markings, personality, colors you love. The weirder the details, the better the piece.

Step 2: Alexis gets to work.

Hand-built, hand-carved, glazed in the colors you chose. No molds. No shortcuts.

Step 3: It arrives. You ugly cry. (Sorry…not sorry).

THE MAKER

Crafted to the soundtrack of huskies singing the song of their people.

Alexis Harper has been teaching art and ceramics for nearly two decades.

The Harper Household is home to 15 pets — mostly husky mixes of some variation, a couple of cats who maintain a studied air of indifference, and two humans who are sometimes allowed to be in charge. She and her husband, Matt, have fostered 267 dogs (and counting) through Taysia Blue Malamute & Husky Rescue.

Alexis started The Big Furbowski because the handmade pet art she wanted to buy didn't exist yet — so she made it herself.

When she's not throwing pots, she's transporting rescue dogs across state lines, volunteering at adoption events, and cussing in the kiln room when a glaze comes out wrong.

The pieces she makes carry all of that — the love, the chaos, the color, the care.
